November/December – at Cork, Ireland, recruiting men, having proceeded there from Portsmouth in October, being 150 men short of complement; reported that a ‘rendezvous for volunteers’ had been opened up at the port, but it was a slow business; by mid-December, still reported to be 80 short of complement

21 Mar - arrived Plymouth Sound
22 Mar – 1 Apr – cruise in the Channel
2 – 20 Apr - Devonport; short refit/preps for foreign service
26 Apr – sailed for the Med.
1 May – Lisbon
19 May – arrived Malta
May/June – Malta
Jul/Aug – squadron cruise off Sardinia in company with Queen, Caledonia, Powerful, Ganges and Bellerophon
- 27 Jul – 2 Aug – at Malta, to take in more stores and fresh water
Sep /Oct – squadron cruise/exercises in western Med;
Oct – Port Mahon
Nov - Barcelona
Dec – Barcelona/Cagliari/Malta

Jan - May – Malta 
May – five seamen found guilty of theft onboard; three given prison sentences, two to be flogged, each to receive four dozen lashes
21 Jun – sailed with other ships of the fleet for cruise

Aug – squadron cruise – Sardinia / Corsica / Italian coast
